Pathways for Joining Our Programs
We offer three flexible pathways designed for students seeking rigorous training and research exposure in preparation for graduate study in finance, economics, mathematical finance, and related fields.
1) Certificate in Economic Theory, Econometrics, and Mathematical Economics (CETEME)
The CETEME program is designed for students seeking a strong theoretical and quantitative foundation in economics. It is a highly selective, generally funded program. Students are required to make a pledge to support future cohorts and provide a refundable deposit of $150 (effective 2027), which is returned upon successful completion of the program with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and a satisfactory dissertation.
Students with a strong background in mathematics or a closely related discipline (minimum of a 2:1 or equivalent) may be granted a waiver from the initial seven-month mathematics component. These students proceed directly to advanced coursework in economics and mathematics.
Students who complete the program with a GPA of 3.75 or higher, produce a strong dissertation, and achieve a 90th percentile GRE score receive full support for graduate school applications. Support for other students is discretionary and not guaranteed.
The CETEME program takes approximately 7 to 14 months to complete and begins in January and August each year. The August intake is reserved for students who have received the mathematics waiver.

2) Certificate in Applied and Pure Mathematics (CAPM)
The CAPM program is designed for students seeking to build the mathematical foundation necessary for graduate study and research in economics and related fields.
This is a tuition-based program with limited partial funding available. Students may enroll at any time during the year. Those who demonstrate strong academic performance may receive guidance and support for graduate school applications.
The program does not include a research component by default. However, students may elect to undertake a dissertation for an additional fee.
Tuition: $650 per course

3) Open Research Experiences for Graduates and Undergraduates (OREGU)
The OREGU program is designed for students seeking hands-on, mentored research experience alongside structured coursework.
Students may enroll at any time during the year and have the flexibility to select courses aligned with their interests, as well as define their research focus. The program emphasizes high-quality research, and past participants have published in peer-reviewed journals and gained admission to leading graduate programs.
Tuition: $5,500
