- Program Overview
The Open Research Experiences for Graduates and Undergraduates (OREGU) program is designed for students interested in pursuing a PhD or Master’s in Economics, Finance, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Financial Engineering, or Financial Mathematics. This tailored remote program offers 1) formal research training and 2) exposure to graduate-level coursework under the guidance of experienced instructors. It helps students develop strong research skills, gain exposure to advanced coursework, and learn how to produce publishable research papers.
Students accepted into the program will gain hands-on experience in original research, participate in directed online courses to strengthen their knowledge, and receive mentorship from at least one research expert in their chosen field. This program is designed for students who plan to pursue a PhD or, at a minimum, a Master’s at a leading university after completing their undergraduate studies.

- Objectives and Expected Outcomes
The OREU program prepares students with theoretical and analytical methods applicable to research in their fields of interest. By engaging in cutting-edge research, taking graduate-level courses, and receiving personalized mentorship, students will significantly enhance their academic profiles and research skills.
The program culminates in the acquisition of advanced knowledge and skills and the creation of a publishable research paper by each student, strengthening students’ future applications to graduate programs and providing them with a solid academic portfolio. Students who excel in the OREU program will be well-equipped to stand out in the competitive graduate school environment and excel in their future careers.
OREU integrates economic and finance theory with mathematical methods and practical applications, ensuring that students are well-prepared for success in graduate school and beyond. This is made possible by our instructors.
Our instructors and mentors hold PhD degrees in Finance, Economics, (Applied) Mathematics and Financial Mathematics and are successful academics, researchers, and private-sector professionals, reputed for their excellence in teaching and research in finance, economics, and applied mathematics. Many of our former students have gone on to pursue research degrees at leading universities in the U.S. and internationally, and we are confident that new students will achieve similar success if they excel in the OREU program.
Please Note
The above OREGU program at BAUM TenPers Institute is different from the Certificate in Economic Theory, Econometrics and Mathematical Economics, which already commenced in January 2025.
